About
I started photographing in 2009 during my molecular biology studies — at first casually, later through courses and small projects. Over time, photography became the way I explore the question “What is life?”
During my PhD I took a break in 2017 to join photographer Jeroen Toirkens in Lapland, where I learned about storytelling and slow documentary projects. Since then, I’ve worked on personal series and discovered that I’m drawn to photographing quiet outdoor moments and people in their natural environment.
Alongside my scientific career — first as a postdoctoral researcher, later as a Senior Data Scientist, and now as part of the national biotech program Biotech Booster — photography has remained my passion. Here on this blog I share a wider mix of projects, experiments, and reflections that don’t always fit within my fine-art project Grounded Compositions.
I’m always open to collaborations in the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and beyond. If you’d like to work together on a photo shoot or documentary idea, don’t hesitate to reach out through the contact form (under “Using Photos” ) or via Instagram.

Jessie
